She Needs to Hear This: Love Yourself

Series She Needs to Hear This- Part 4

Scripture: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Mark 12:31

We’ve heard the verse a hundred times—“Love your neighbor as yourself.” But how often do we forget the “as yourself” part?

Sweet friend, you’ve been pouring out. You’re answering texts, meeting needs, planning meals, and showing up for everyone else. But when was the last time you showed up for you?

Taking care of your soul isn’t selfish—it’s sacred.

Even Jesus withdrew to quiet places to pray—not because He was weak, but because He was wise. He knew the strength to love others deeply comes from being deeply rooted in the Father.

Do you remember Martha? She was busy hosting, serving, and taking care of everyone—good things. But she got so caught up in doing for Jesus that she missed simply being with Him. Her sister Mary chose to sit at His feet, to soak in His presence—and Jesus called it the better choice.

He didn’t scold Martha for serving. He simply reminded her: your soul matters, too.

Your spirit needs rest. It needs time in the Word. It needs stillness. You weren’t created to run dry and call it devotion.

You can love your family, your friends, your people—and still guard your heart, your peace, and your time with God.

You don’t have to choose between being a good steward and being spiritually whole. In fact, you can’t have one without the other.

Let this be your permission slip to take a breath.

To step away.

To fill your cup with the Living Water that never runs out.

Because the best version of you—the most loving, joyful, wise version—is the one who remembers:

You are a daughter of the king first, and a doer second.

Love, C
