Series: She Needs to Hear This
Part One 1️⃣
Some days, the quiet feels heavier than usual.
The dishwasher hums. The toys scatter. The laundry piles again. You move from room to room, checking things off a never-ending list—doing all the things no one notices. Not only is it unnoticed, but it will be back to a mess tomorrow. The lists pile up. Grocery lists, school lists, work lists, extra lists, and to do lists everywhere. And somewhere in the swirl of the ordinary, this little ache whispers:
Does anyone even see me?
You’re not alone in that feeling.
In fact, there’s a woman in the Bible who felt the same way. Her name was Hagar.
Hagar wasn’t the main character in anyone’s story—at least not on the surface. She was pushed aside, mistreated, and eventually sent away. Alone in the desert, carrying a child and the weight of rejection, she must’ve felt invisible. But in that wilderness—God showed up.
He didn’t just see her.
He called her by name.
In that moment, she gave God a name that still speaks volumes to us today:
El Roi – “The God who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)
🌿 And friend, He sees you too.
He sees you when you’re picking up toys and wondering if any of it matters.
He hears the prayers you whisper while wiping noses, packing lunches, or lying awake in bed trying to remember that thing you were supposed to do.
He knows the effort you put in—the kind of love that doesn’t post well on Instagram but runs deep in the bones of your life.
Even when it goes unnoticed by the world, He notices.
He’s not just watching—He’s near. He is there.
💬 You are not forgotten.
You are seen in the mundane.
You are seen in the hard.
You are seen in the sacrifice.
And He is not just the God of mountain-top miracles—He’s the God of kitchen floors and 2 a.m. prayers. He’s the God of one more load of dishes and one more hug before bedtime.
He is El Roi.
And that changes everything.
📝 Let’s Reflect:
- What is one moment this week where you’ve felt unseen?
- How might God be whispering, “I see you, daughter,” right in the middle of it?
🙏 A Simple Prayer:
God, thank You for being the One who sees me when no one else does.
Remind me that I don’t serve to be seen by people—I serve because I’m loved by You.
Help me find peace and purpose in even the smallest acts of love.
Amen.
